Ever Reach Out Making A Wish....

For something you wish you could have, but know it's not possible anytime in the near future.
Oh and I mean a big something like maybe a Corvette or to move somewhere you'd like to live. lol
Find a sweet looking and ever sweeter sounding guitar at one of my visits to the Guitar Center store. Has a very warm tone to it with a gold finish on the top and a brown woodgrain finish for the sides and back.
It's the Gibson Slash Les Paul Goldtop. Runs just a little over $6000.00. Small pocket change, huh?? NOT!! ;-)
But for those that could never come close to that, Epiphone, which is a Gibson company also makes the Slash Les Paul Goldtop for $1500.00. Both guitars look and sound the same. But that's where the wish comes in because I can't even do that any time soon. But I thought when I seen it again last night in one of my bookmarks, it would make a great 50th birthday present for me in two days (7th). HaHaaHa!

And now I never thought I'd ever say this in a million years, But I can't wait until tonight when American Idol comes on. I've only ever seen maybe five miutes of the show and that was all I could take. Sorry to all you American Idol fans, I just don't fancy those kinds of shows. But tonight I'll have to try to get through it because Slash is suppose to be the show.He's teaching or something, I really have no idea because I've never watched it. But I'm hoping to get to see him play guitar even just a little bit. There's some awesome guitarist in the world and many I truly enjoy hearing, but to me, his sounds are the very best and I can't get enough of hearing him play.

Wednesday update.

Not a lot to say this week. I did play 3 chords (C,D,G) with a 1-2 strum beat for the first time. Some chords wasn't played the cleanest every time, so he just told me to practice it this week. That's all for this week. :-)

Three weeks behind me.

I now have eight chords down. Even getting that annoying "C" chord done, finally! Some how it's true, if you keep trying and it will start happening. :-)
Tonight's lesson went pretty easy and he didn't give me any new chords to learn.

But he wants me to now start learning to change chords, smoothly. Not why on earth did I not see that coming??? LOL!

One thing I am learning out of this, is a musicians life is not as full of fun and roses as I often thought it would be. I can see there's a lot of work and I can't even play one song yet. Much less even think of being able to play many songs.

Guitar update

Where to start...... Had another lesson Wednesday night.
hmm, Wednesday to Wednesday seems to really come quick now. LOL

He seem to be happy with how far I had came with it, but I'm not to sure I am. Still having a bit of trouble with the "C" chord. My fingers are short and large and trying to put 1st finger on 1st fret and get 3rd finger on 3rd fret is a bit of stretch while not touching another string. All he says is keep trying, keep practicing, keep trying, keep practicing, and I will get it. Yeah, I know this will not happen over night, but this one chord just don't feel possible to ever get. But I'm not giving up.

Thursday morning I had to take my guitar up to the music shop. He noticed Wednesday night that the strings were to high on the lower section of the neck. So he adjusted the neck and the bridge, now the strings are same height all the way up the neck.

Anyway, Wednesday night he gave me three more chords to learn, plus work on going from one chord to another while strumming. This other set of chords don't seem to hard to do, but WOW, I do know the first set of chords he gave me now, can't do them good and quick, but now I have much more. Feels as it's getting all piled up around me before I'm ready. Just not comfortable with it.
One other thing worries me is I'm just not getting comfortable with this guitar. He tells me the guitar needs to be comfortable when holding and playing. It's not, just feels to awkward. But it's what I have and hoping that it will get better.

I remember the teacher told me the first night I met him, that I'm going to get mad at the guitar and even myself at times. Yeah, I have already seem them times. Just the other night I was practicing, a thought hit me. The only thing wrong, is that I don't own a big enough hammer to destroy this guitar good enough. And how much this guitar would be a good piece of firewood ;)
But all in all, I'm enjoying learning to play it and don't see ever giving it up. :-)

This is just wrong in every way....

I think the Guitar Gods hates all beginning learning to play guitar. LOL


Can only just drop my head and ask........... WHY??????? ;-)

Starting something new....

Well, tonight I do something I've wanted to do for many years but for some reason I've always put other things before it. I'm going for my first lesson at learning to play a guitar. At nearly 50, I guess if I'm ever going to do it, I might as well get with it, huh! ;)
I've played around with drums in the past and also played the violin back in school. Barely remember violin in school for it's been so long, but I do remember I learned to play but didn't do so good mainly because I didn't want to play it, but it was that class or pick some other class that I can't even remember what it was, but didn't want that class. lol
Anyway, like I said, I've always wanted to learn as far back as I can remember. So Wanda went and bought me an acoustic/electric guitar for Christmas. Said I can't have an amplifier for it until I've learned to play. WHAAAAAAT??? lol
But that's alright, for she will have to buy me an amplifier when I learn because then I'll want a new, and even better electric guitar.
Neighbors should really love that! LOL

UPDATE: First lesson is behind me now. Got three words to say!

I'm in T-R-O-U-B-L-E-!-!-! LOL!!!

Alright, honestly, it wasn't near hard and bad as I thought it would be. YET, maybe I should say! I just don't know what else yet is in front of me. But he helped me get comfortable with it and told me what he showed me tonight was the hardest part and once I learn it, I could play most any thing. He showed me C, D and G chords to learn. Hopefully I will have them down by the time I go back for lesson #2 next Wednesday night. But I think "C" is going to give me much trouble. He says just keep trying and it well come to me. But bottom line, I did really enjoy it tonight.
