Subscribing to RSS feeds and Email

Don't think I'm getting the point to them. Do you subscribe to blogs RSS feeds or Email or both for a favorite blog. And why do you?
I'm not sure it's good, or at least not for me. I do subscribe to email on a few blogs. I enjoy reading many blogs but I catch myself many times reading the email instead of dropping into the blog unless I want to comment or drop on EC widget. Then I click link from email to their blog for comment.
Still learning a lot of this blogging stuff and I just think I'm over looking something here.

I don't subscribe because I just can't bare all the emails to open and read but I do have a spring widget on my Yuku profile/blog that has the feeds of blogs I visit on.

I can then scroll between the feeds each day to see if anyone has new entries.

I don't subscribe to rss feeds... I know what it does, but I just don't see the point of it.

I do subscibe to RSS feeds because I can quickly scan my favorite blogs for new posts from my yahoo homepage. I find it very convenient. I don't do the e-mail thing because I already have too much stuff to sift through as it is.

Actually I rarely subscribe to any blog. I have 3 email subscriptions as emails are still my favorite when it comes to reading but more than this I prefer to visit the blog every day while dropping and read it.

You're not missing anything. I don't subscribe to RSS Feeds or Email Subscriptions, and for better or worse, I don't offer them on my blog. If someone is interested, they'll visit my blog. If I gave them an RSS or Email feed, they wouldn't visit my blog. Either way, I lose traffic.

There are arguments both ways of course, but I don't have time to sort through RSS feeds all day. What I do subscribe to is various Google Alerts. For a very few topics that I'm highly interested in, I've set up Google Alerts. Google combs the internet looking for new or blog articles on topics of high interest to me. I open those emails daily and scan the articles. Some of them I click on and read, most I don't. It's a way for me to keep up to date on what's happening for topics I'm a news junkie about. Other than that, though, I don't see the point to RSS either.

It's like Malcolm said in "Jurassic Park"...we've created all this technology that does so many things, but we haven't given any real thought as to whether we should use it or whether we need it.

It's the same for some blogs that have packed every widget imaginable into their sidebars that go on forever and take forever to load. Every widget imaginable is not necessary for a sidebar.

THAT being said, I love your RSS Feed widget that lists the Entrecard Top droppers. I like that idea, and I've added it to my sidebar. It's a way for me to give easy recognition to my top droppers without having to take the time to post about it every few weeks or so. And while I'm on the topic of top droppers, I have to thank you for stopping by blog so regularly ever since I've been on EntreCard. It's much appreciated!

    Have an awesome day!

Thanks much everyone for your replies!
So I guess I do have it all figured out. Feed and emails are quicker but I enjoy the blogs more. Just need to figure out which way I rather do it now. ;) But I will be in the blogs anyway when making EC drops.

I truly feel that way myself. LOL! Is half the stuff built really needed?? NOT for me there not. Just a bunch of toys!

Terry! Truly sorry to hear about you losing your internet! Sure hope something great works out for you!
