Buying alcohol and tobacco products.

Seen the oddest thing when stopping at Wal-Mart today to pick up some things, and while standing near the cashiers I noticed a sign hanging from the ceiling. Saying anyone buying alcohol and tobacco products under the age of 40 would have to show an ID. Come on now, for real? Age 40?????? LOL!
I can see a young looking person getting carded, but not if your in your maybe say mid 20's and above. Wal-Mart just keeps getting weirder all the time. ;)

Yes.. it is weird.. below 40? this is the first time i'm hearing the age limit of below 40. Some of local sellers here even sells to below 18 which is illegal in our country.

I keep wondering why they don't just say "We will card EVERYONE, even if you're as old as John McCain." :)

You want to know why? Because there are secret shoppers that are paid to specifically go in and buy cigarettes - they actually require the person to be under 25 and "young looking" to go in and buy a pack of cigarettes. Anyone who gets through? Well, Walmart gets a bad grade. Forget about the local police agencies who also send undercover ppl in to do it, and then fine them. Walmart is just trying to cover their asses, which is how they got to be a bazillion dollar industry LOL

I carded while boarding a river boat casino when I was in my 30's-but to be honest I did have really long hair and looked like 16-not.

lol! well the youth age bracket is 15 to 35, I think..why not Walmart lower the age in 35 instead of 40..that's funny :)I know guys in 40's already have grandchilren lol!

Well, at least they stopped at 40! At one time they were carding everyone, then up to 35 then they have stopped at 40. For a while there, they could not make up their minds.....
